Why Abstraction
Abstraction allows for creation both for the artist and the person enjoying it. I get to explore my own imagination in creating what I choose to and respect other people’s opinion. I wish we could all see the world as abstraction where there is no right or wrong – each interpretation is unique based on our experiences, up bringing, belief systems and values. As we listen to another interpretation, we can learn from it. It can change the existing interpretation and it is all ok.
In abstraction, I see free spirit, freedom to be, to express without boundaries and rules.
Mary Lee Gosz
It is an exploration of the inner rather than a replica of the subjective what is. Then again impressionism and expressionism can be that too. In abstraction as introduced in the three artists we heard about the artist’s steps back and even acknowledges a life of the painting on it’s own. We see flow, stops, beginnings and unfinished, material matters and we are more witnessing a teamwork’s result and interaction of artist with material. In abstraction you can use of the same technique and the results will be eternal and endless in possibilities. It becomes very natural in the feeling it evokes in me – the never-ending fascination with looking at water, fire, stones on the beach. Therefor abstraction gives me a feeling that comes from landscapes.
